BANGKOK, June 4 (TNA) -- Thai Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij said on Thursday that some measures proven to be beneficial under a six-month programme of government-funded subsidies to help relieve the burden of low-income earners, may be extended.
The five-pronged range of economic measures expires in July.
Mr. Korn said his ministry is now studying which measures should be maintained and which should be dropped.
The measures include free tap water for households nationwide using less than 30 units a month, free electricity for households throughout the country using less than 90 units monthly, free third class travel on trains, free travel on 800 buses of the state-run Bangkok Mass Transit Authority on 73 routes in Bangkok, and a freeze on the price of cooking gas.
