CEBU, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will head Malaysia's delegation to the 45th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (Seameo) Council Conference here starting Tuesday.
Muhyiddin's attendance at the four-day conference reflects Malaysia's commitment towards internalisation of Malaysia's education, said the Education Ministry in a statement.
It said it would also enhance Malaysia's position and visibility as a centre of education excellence in South East Asia.
Muhyiddin is expected to arrive here Tuesday to attend conference, which is being held back to back with the fifth Asean Education Ministers Meeting that will, among other, deliberate on a report on the Asean University Network and the Asean school resource material.
"Malaysia will share its experience in its educational development with Seameo members," it said, adding that, Muhyiddin would exchange notes with education ministers from 10 other countries at a Seameo's policy forum entitled "Understanding the Vital Pathways for Future Learning".
The statement said the Seameo secretariat based in Bangkok would present a report on the implementation of the "Seameo Collaborative Project to Reach the Unreached in Southeast Asian Countries and Achieve Education For All (EFA) Goals by 2015" where several proposals were submitted by Malaysia.
The proposals include holding a "Conference to Promote Awareness of Education for Girls and Women" scheduled for July 11-15 in support of education for all, identifying education issues affecting women and girls, and sharing best practices in gender-responsive related projects.
Malaysia has also proposed a regional seminar to promulgate a transition programme policy for disabled people at Genting Highlands in October.
Genting Highlands (maximum elevation about 1760m) is a mountain peak within the Titiwangsa Mountains on the border between the states of Pahang and Selangor of Malaysia and is home to a famous mountain resort. (BERNAMA)
