BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) – Energy Minister Poonpirom Liptapanlop on Wednesday warned motorists not to attempt to use cooking gas instead of LPG for vehicles, saying it could endanger their lives.
She conceded that consumers in many areas are using the substitution because it helps reduce their costs.
However, such an approach is very dangerous and could cause substantial damage to lives and property, she said.
The minister also asked owners of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)-driven vehicles not to rush to complete their vehicles with the alternative fuel because such action could cause a temporary shortfall of the fuel.
She affirmed the LPG supply is now sufficient to the demand -- unless, that is, motorists rush to complete the modification of their vehicles' engines to use LPG gas.
Regarding progress in the restructuring of LPG prices for vehicles and household use, she said the committee chaired by Permanent Secretary for Energy Pornchai Rujiprapa would speed up its consideration and deal with the matter as soon as possible. (TNA)
